In addition to providing parents with an understanding of the learning process and environment of their child, along with practical steps they can take to both enhance and become actively involved in that process, the Resource also provides a myriad of tips and insights illustrating the need for parents to assess their behaviours and attitudes towards their child and how to imbue self-esteem in their child and its direct correlation with learning ability and achievement.
The importance of diet for a healthy mind Intelligence is not fixed at birth it is learnt
It is the parents role to encourage the growth of their children's intelligence
Children must be always be able to talk to parents
Making mistakes is a part of learning
Every child is gifted in their own way.
Don't let any child think too much of themselves
Don't neglect physical activities
Respects your child's need for space and privacy
Don't crush when overruling a child
Encourage your child to think positively about themselves
Every child responds to routine:
once you set one, don't break it
A low self-acceptance is dangerous as it stays for life
High self-acceptance can be achieved in the home where standards are clear, fully explained and understood
Consistency makes a child feel secure
Children's opinions must not be invalidated
All of the above are covered in the resource.
If a child's 'system' responds well to the content and delivery of a subject they do well at the subject, if it responds poorly then they do poorly.
One of the primary aims of the Resource is to ensure that parents appreciate this concern and are adequately equipped with the necessary 'tools' to ensure that their child develops a suitable adept 'system' to fully integrate with their educational environment.
The Resource provides parents with a full set of 'tools' from assessing their child's learning style, through to designing and implementing learning plan, to revision, preparation and sitting of exams.
It shows parents how they can play a key role in this process and gives them an understanding of how their role integrates with the education and role you provide as their teacher/school to create a partnership that will be of the utmost benefit to the child's development.
